Over A Half-Million Dollars Raised in Three Years to Support Heart Health Programs at Annual Walk

Breckenridge, Colo. — June 15, 2018 — Over 700 two-legged and four-legged participants ran, walked and cheered at The 3rd Annual Rob Millisor Heart Health Walk (RAM Walk) at Breckenridge’s Carter Park in honor of the late Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV) owner/developer. The day featured live entertainment, kids’ activities, local vendors sharing heart health information and a heart-healthy lunch provided by the Breckenridge Restaurant Association. The RAM Walk raised $171,000 so far this year, with more contributions arriving daily.

Because of generous support from Breckenridge Grand Vacations, 100% of every dollar received at the event was contributed to The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund at BGV’s community partner, The Summit Foundation. In its third year, the event received support from a record number of sponsors at 35 who contributed $153,465 in cash and in-kind support. Over 100 volunteers showed up to lend a hand throughout the day.

With this year’s tally, the RAM Walk, part of Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ philanthropic program BGV Gives, has raised more than $500,000 in the past three years to benefit and support heart health programs in Summit County. Specifically, the donations have supported free monthly heart health screening events by St. Anthony Summit Medical Center; heart-healthy cooking classes at Colorado Mountain College; and Infant CPR Anytime kits for new local parents. Additional programs include Keystone Science School CATCH Afterschool Program, which promotes healthy physical activity and eating behaviors in children; AED units for the Summit Community Care Dental Clinic and for BGV’s resort properties; and a community-wide CPR/DEFIB education program.

Founded in 2016, the BGV Gives Program was started to facilitate and further extend Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ philanthropic reach and impact in Summit County and the surrounding area. Inspired by the late BGV Owner/Developer, Rob Millisor, this charitable program honors his example of service to others by supporting the local nonprofit community.

“We are honored and humbled to continue Rob’s legacy of giving through fundraising, sponsorships, grants, volunteering and in-kind donations on behalf of those in need,” says Deb Edwards, program manager for BGV Gives. Millisor passed away in 2015 from a heart attack while on a humanitarian trip in Nepal.

BGV Gives has a primary focus on health, human services and education. BGV’s Owner/Developer, Mike Millisor says, “Rob’s mission was to support and care for our community and employees. It’s an honor to do that through all of our BGV Gives programs and, in particular, through the RAM Walk which is helping to promote heart health and save lives.”
